Yesterday was a hot one in Southern California. Even though I live just a short walk from the pier, in Huntington Beach, I decided I wanted a change of scenery — and to actually be on the beach, so I drove down PCH to Laguna Beach. I love the palisades, rocky seascapes, and beautiful views. Laguna Beach is also great for people watching. First, I stopped at Heisler Park, and that is where I had a surprise encounter with a happy couple. I had my tripod set up and was looking out at the sea, from the cliffs above the beach when a guy held out his phone and asked if I would take a picture of him with his bride of six years. It seems that we were standing on the spot where he had proposed to her seven years and two children ago.
Rather than use his phone, and since I had an Olympus OMD-EM5 in my hand, we grabbed about 50 shots, with it, which I then sent to them. For those interested in the technology, I use two lenses. The first image was captured with a 9mm body cap lens, and the next three, shown here, were with a 17mm.
I love to photograph nearly anything and anyone, but seeing the love and caring the Nathan and Jenny exhibited toward each other, even for the 15 minutes I knew them, made me so happy. Happy Sixth Anniversary!
