Salvation Mountain

After visiting Bombay Beach, on the Salton Sea, we took a turn inland, toward Salvation Mountain.

Before reaching Salvation Mountain, we stopped at the Buckshot Deli and Diner, in Niland. I’m not sure if Rick Rosen always smiles like this, is just unhappy to be on that side of the camera, or is annoyed that posing for a portrait might delay his lunch! 🙂 Anyway, I softened the focus to better reflect his teddy bear nature!

After lunch, we headed toward Slab City, and Salvation Mountain. Leonard Knight passed away, in February (2014), but his dream and spirit live on.

We spent about 90 minutes at Salvation Mountain, then made our way to the other side of Slab City, to East Jesus. Pictures in a couple of days.
